I started The Sanchez Report to share my views and thoughts about a range of topics including politics, the economy, military affairs and issues involving my hometown, Oakland, California. My interests in these topics stem from my upbringing in the politically charged Bay Area. Born in Berkeley and raised in East Oakland, I couldn't avoid developing a strong set of core beliefs.
These beliefs were only deepened and refined throughout my career on Wall Street working for firms like Lehman Brothers, Salomon Smith Barney and the New York Stock Exchange. I've also experienced the start-up world as co-founder of two Silicon Valley start-ups and a deployment to Iraq and Kuwait as a Company Commander with the US Navy Reserves in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
I am no longer a staunch partisan and consider myself to be a pragmatic conservative. I am a proud fiscal conservative, military hawk, unabashed capitalist and an opponent of extreme ideology from either the right or left.
I received a Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco and dual MBA's from Columbia Business School and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2003, Hispanic Business Magazine named me to their list of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics. I am a Lieutenant in the US Navy Reserves and received the Army Commendation Medal during my deployment to Iraq and Kuwait in 2006.
